West Belfast businesses targeted in theft and attempted break-in
A West Belfast dog grooming business has been targeted in a theft, while a nearby takeaway suffered an attempted break-in, prompting warnings from local traders.
Emma Livingstone, who runs The Grooming Loft on the Glen Road, said around £600 was taken from a cash box on Friday afternoon. She believes the theft was opportunistic, occurring while she was working in another room. No one was injured.
Livingstone described the incident as a violation and said she is reviewing CCTV footage with the police. She has also urged other businesses in the area to remain vigilant.
Separately, on Sunday evening, two youths attempted to force entry into Gransha Grill takeaway at the Gransha shops. CCTV footage shows them breaking into the chip preparation room at the back of the premises around 7.30pm, but they were unable to access the main kitchen or public areas.
Eileen O’Neill from Gransha Grill said staff discovered damage to the back door on Monday morning. Nothing was stolen, but she echoed calls for local traders to be cautious.
Businesses in the Gransha shops area have reported a number of recent attempted break-ins, according to local reports. Police are investigating both incidents and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
