A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of break-ins at residential properties in north Belfast. Police said the burglaries took place between 11pm on Sunday 23 August and 6am on Monday 24 August.

Homes in the Cavehill Road, Antrim Road and Oldpark areas were targeted. Cash and other items were taken from the properties.

Chief Inspector Patrick Mullan said one vehicle was stolen during the incidents. That car, taken from the Formby Park area, was later recovered by officers in the Jamaica Street area of the city. A second vehicle, stolen from a property in the Shangarry Park area, has not yet been found.

Detectives are investigating whether the break-ins are linked. Officers are appealing to the public for any CCTV, dash-cam or other footage that may show suspicious vehicles or individuals in the affected areas overnight.

Police have issued a reference number for the investigation: 352 23/08/26. Anyone with information can contact police on 101, or submit a report online via the PSNI appeals portal. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Alongside the appeal, police have reminded residents of basic home security steps. Advice includes locking all doors and windows when leaving the property, keeping valuables out of sight, and storing car keys away from doors and windows. For keyless vehicles, officers recommend using a Faraday bag or box to block signal interception. Homeowners are also encouraged to install or maintain burglar alarms and to consider cameras or video doorbells at entry points.
