A Belfast company director has been disqualified for six years after his beverage retail business entered liquidation with a significant deficiency.

The Department for the Economy accepted a disqualification undertaking from Timothy Lyness, aged 41, on 12 May 2026. The undertaking relates to his conduct as a director of Kauffee Ltd.

Kauffee Ltd was registered to sell beverages in specialised stores from an address at Unit 540, Moat House, 54 Bloomfield Avenue, Belfast. The company went into liquidation on 31 March 2023, leaving an estimated deficiency to creditors of £51,584. Share capital outstanding totalled £100, bringing the overall deficiency to £51,684 when members were taken into account.

The disqualification undertaking means Lyness cannot act as a company director or be involved in the promotion, formation or management of a company without leave of the court for the six-year period. The unfit conduct that led to the undertaking was accepted by Lyness solely for the purposes of the disqualification procedure and was not disputed.

The Department confirmed this was the only disqualification undertaking it accepted, with no disqualification orders made by the court, in the financial year that began on 1 April 2026.
