A large band of rain is expected to move across Northern Ireland on Thursday, with weather maps indicating wet conditions from early morning until late afternoon.

Met Office forecaster Alex Burkill explained that a frontal system will push northwards, bringing rain to Northern Ireland, as well as parts of western Wales, northern England, and Scotland. While the rain may be persistent, overall weekly totals are not expected to be exceptionally high.

The rain is forecast to reach Northern Ireland by 6 a.m. on Thursday. By 10 a.m., almost the entire region, along with much of Scotland, will be under the rain band. The band will extend over 500 miles from North Wales to northern Scotland by 1 p.m., before clearing Northern Ireland by 4 p.m., with the heaviest showers then shifting to parts of northern England.

Burkill noted that some locations could receive more than 50 millimeters of rain during the week, but he described this as not a large amount and said some people would welcome the rainfall at this time of year.
