Ulster Unionist Party leader Jon Burrows has met the Prime Minister Andy Burnham during his visit to Northern Ireland, setting out three priorities: a multi-year budget, strategic investment in the economy, and a transformed health service.

Burrows described the meeting as constructive. He said his party made the case for funding to plan sustainable public services, but added that spending and government in Northern Ireland must become more responsible.

On the economy, he called for more strategic investment to grow the economy and create prosperity, particularly for young people. He also outlined detailed challenges facing health and the need for faster access to NHS treatment.

On the constitutional question, Burrows said a border poll is no closer now than when the Good Friday Agreement was signed. He said the party secured the Union and will keep working to strengthen it, but people want better governance and functioning public services rather than permanent agitation.

The meeting came during the Prime Minister's visit to Northern Ireland.
