A ten-hour relay cycle challenge will take place in Omagh next month to raise money for a local animal rescue.

The Pedal for Paws event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, from 8am to 6pm, outside the Grovehill Animal Trust charity shop on Foundry Lane. Twenty riders will take turns on stationary bikes throughout the day.

Grovehill Animal Trust has operated in Sixmilecross since 2011, rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats and dogs. The charity is entirely self-funded and receives no government or council money. Donations pay for food, shelter, veterinary treatment, vaccinations, neutering and microchipping.

Co-ordinator Richard Robinson said every donation helps the charity provide care for the animals. He noted that the riders are volunteering their time and energy, and the shelter depends on community generosity to operate.

He encouraged the public to visit the charity shop on the day to show support or donate online through the JustGiving campaign page.
