A rescue dog in County Tyrone will undergo surgery to address breathing difficulties after his charity received a £1,000 donation from Power NI.

Rubble, a two-year-old pug in the care of Grovehill Animal Trust in Sixmilecross, needs an operation to help him breathe more easily and improve his prospects for adoption.

The charity launched a fundraising appeal earlier this month to cover the cost of the procedure.

The donation came through Power NI's Brighter Communities programme and will also support Grovehill's wider work rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals.

Richard Robinson, a representative for Grovehill Animal Trust, said every penny received goes directly towards animal care, including food, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation, and that the funding will make a real difference.

Grovehill Animal Trust provides shelter for abandoned, neglected or surrendered animals and promotes responsible pet ownership.

The charity said the funding will help it continue delivering high-quality care while responding to ongoing demand for its services.
