A one-woman theatrical performance based on the works of James Joyce will take place in Rostrevor, County Down, on Tuesday 16 June with all proceeds directed to a family reunion fund.

The performance, titled Plurabelles, features actor Maggie Shevlin and was created by Joyce scholar Paul Sheehan. The script is composed entirely of dialogue drawn from Joyce’s writings. Musician Eithne Hannigan composed and recorded the show’s accompanying music.

The performance contains adult dialogue from Joyce’s work that some audience members may find offensive, organisers have noted.

The show will be staged at The Rostrevor Inn, with doors closing at 7.15pm and the performance beginning at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £10 and are available online and from Crawford’s Bar in Rostrevor.

Proceeds will go to the Dua Ahmed Family Reunion in Ireland Fund. Dua Ahmed, a Gaza-born schoolteacher, is currently studying for a Master’s degree focusing on traumatised children at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. She was recently granted refugee status in Ireland.

Ahmed has been separated from her children and husband, who remain in Gaza, for the past two years. The fund aims to provide practical support to help her bring her family to safety and reunite them in Ireland.
