A woman and her child have been subjected to a racial abuse incident in Northern Ireland, according to the victim.

Dr. Imani Strong, an African American immigrant, said a man in a passing car shouted at her to go home while she was with her young daughter. The incident took place near a school, where a crossing guard witnessed it and attempted to record the vehicle's registration number.

The school staff ensured the child was safe after the confrontation, and police took the report seriously, Strong said. Separate incidents earlier in the week saw homes of Ugandan care workers and Romanian families set on fire in Belfast. The Police Service of Northern Ireland is investigating those attacks.
