Derry event to examine independent truth panels on 16th anniversary of Saville Inquiry
A public discussion on independent truth recovery panels takes place in Derry on Tuesday 30 June.
The event is organised by the Bloody Sunday Trust and will be held at the Rainbow Project from 7pm to 9pm.
Professor Phil Scraton, known for his work on state accountability and human rights, will explore how independent investigations can challenge official narratives and secure acknowledgement for victims and survivors.
Paul McFadden chairs the discussion. Members of the Springhill, Westrock, and Creeslough communities also take part, putting families at the centre of the search for truth and accountability.
The gathering marks 16 years since the publication of the Bloody Sunday Inquiry report. A recent public apology to the Springhill and Westrock families followed inquest findings that confirmed those killed were innocent and that British soldiers had used unjustified force.
Tickets are available online.
