Bloody Sunday Film Release Chronicles Families' Justice Campaign
A new film titled The Day Innocence Died: Bloody Sunday and the Fight for Justice has been released. Family members and activists from Derry recount the events in their own accounts.
The documentary covers discrimination under the former Unionist administration. It details the Bloody Sunday killings. It follows the subsequent campaign for accountability, the Saville Report and efforts toward prosecutions.
Tony Doherty, Chair of the Bloody Sunday Trust, called the film outstanding. He noted collaboration with producers Hannan and Richard from the Rainbow Collective began last summer. Doherty stated the team captured the families' justice efforts accessibly.
Doherty stressed the need to document experiences from those directly impacted and involved in the justice struggle. He anticipates public response and hopes the story inspires others facing wrongs.
Public screenings start at 7.30pm from April 1 to April 4 at Brunswick Moviebowl in Derry. Contact [email protected] to arrange additional screenings.
