Derek Ryan fans donate over €3,200 to Fermanagh special school during Spanish music holiday
Supporters of country music singer Derek Ryan collected €3,230 during a church service in Spain, with half the proceeds going to a special needs school in County Fermanagh.
The collection took place at a Mass held in the Alcazaba Ballroom of the Sol Príncipe Hotel in Torremolinos. More than 550 people attended the service, which was part of Ryan’s ‘Beat in the Heat’ music holiday.
Willowbridge Special School in Fermanagh and BEAM Services for Adults with Special Needs in Carlow each received €1,615.
Father Tom O’Byrne led the Mass and centered his sermon on love, referencing the Randy Travis song ‘Forever and Ever, Amen’.
Ryan was joined by musical director Ray McLoughlin, violinist Patrick Bell, and guest performers Des Willoughby, Olivia Douglas, and Gavin Gribben, who provided hymns and songs.
The six-day ‘Beat in the Heat’ event drew fans from across Ireland and the UK to Malaga. The lineup included Lisa McHugh, Robert Mizzell, Johnny Brady, and Paddy Treacy, along with poolside entertainment, dance lessons, and evening dances.
Ryan has recently completed a concert tour that included a sold-out show at the Killyhevlin Hotel. He is now preparing for a summer of festivals, dance dates, and acoustic songwriter shows.
The fundraising effort highlights the charitable dimension of Ryan’s fan community events.
