DJ Sets to Accompany Bangor parkrun as 'Bass Makes Pace' Launches
A new event will bring live DJ performances to the weekly parkrun at Ward Park in Bangor.
'Bass Makes Pace' launches this Saturday and will feature music from the bandstand between 9am and noon, coinciding with the regular 5km run.
Local runner and DJ Paul Carson conceived the idea. He said running past the bandstand during parkruns made him realise it could be used to add atmosphere and motivation.
Carson will perform alongside DJ Boy, DJ Jay Dee and parkrun director Terry Coyne, who plans to play a selection of 1980s rock tracks. The music will span multiple genres.
Carson described the event as a free, community-focused initiative blending music, fitness and culture. He said the sound system and DJ equipment will be of club standard, supplied by Crux Productions.
Although this Saturday's edition is a one-off, Carson said talks are ongoing with Ards and North Down Borough Council to make it a regular feature. Crux Productions, a new venture linked to an established events business with three decades of experience, is supporting the project.
