A junction at Mountjoy Road, Old Mountfield Road and Lisanelly Avenue in Omagh is closed this weekend for resurfacing works associated with the new Strule Shared Education Campus.

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) said the closure is continuous and a signed diversion route is in place. A second road closure in the area is scheduled later this month.

A DfI spokesperson stated that officials worked closely with the contractor to put traffic management arrangements in place to minimise disruption. Road users are advised to allow extra journey time and follow the clearly signed alternative routes.

Emergency services access, property access and deliveries will be accommodated during the works. Completion depends on favourable weather conditions and updates will be issued if plans change. The spokesperson added that all work follows current health and safety guidance, with safe systems of working for staff and contractors.

The Strule Shared Education Campus, on the former Lisanelly Army base, is the largest education project ever undertaken in Northern Ireland. It is due to open in 2028 and will house six local secondary schools.
