Enniskillen man disqualified for drink driving in work vehicle
A 28-year-old Enniskillen man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to driving a work vehicle while over the drink drive limit and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
Jamie Fee of Rampart Lane in Enniskillen appeared before Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday, October 21. He admitted three charges relating to an incident on November 1, 2024.
The court heard that Fee took a Citroen Berlingo belonging to his employer, Western Cars Toyota in Enniskillen, without consent for his own use. He later drove the vehicle on the A4 Belfast Road near Brookeborough after consuming alcohol above the legal limit.
A urine test showed an alcohol reading of 183 milligrams per 100 millilitres, exceeding the statutory limit of 107 milligrams per 100 millilitres.
Fee also admitted failing to remain at the scene of an accident in which property other than the vehicle was damaged.
District Judge Alana McSorley was told that Fee was extremely remorseful and had lost his job following the incident. He has since secured work as an electrician in County Monaghan, with a co-worker providing transport to and from work.
The court also heard that the driving disqualification would affect his childcare responsibilities, as he has a three-year-old child.
A testimonial from his employer described Fee as a hard worker and characterised the incident as a lapse in judgement. Judge McSorley said the likelihood of reoffending was unlikely.
Fee was sentenced to a six-month probation order, disqualified from driving for six months, and fined £200.
