Man fined after tampering with Ballymena ATM
A Ballymena man has been fined after admitting he tampered with an ATM at Sainsbury's and stole a £10 note.
Jeffrey Williamson, 40, of Carnlough Road, Broughshane, appeared before Ballymena Magistrates' Court.
The court heard that on 10 April this year police were called to the store after reports that Williamson and another man had interfered with an ATM.
CCTV showed Williamson ripping off the front slot of the machine and removing a £10 note.
He later drove to the Sainsbury's filling station and interacted with a second ATM, though no money was taken and no damage was caused.
Williamson admitted theft of the £10 note from Brinks ATMs and causing criminal damage to Sainsbury's property.
A charge of going equipped for theft was withdrawn.
District Judge Nigel Broderick fined him £200, ordered him to pay a £15 offender levy and repay the £10 taken.
The judge told Williamson the incident had cost him £215 for a £10 note.
