A 34-year-old man has had charges of criminal damage and theft withdrawn after he accepted a caution at Ballymena Magistrates' Court.

Corey Dunbar, of Ballymena, was accused of causing damage to a Sainsbury's ATM and stealing a small sum of cash from a Brinks machine on April 10 this year.

He also faced a charge of attempting to steal money from a second ATM at the same store's filling station.

A co-accused, aged 40, was fined £200 earlier after admitting theft of a £10 note and criminal damage to the ATM. A separate charge of going equipped for theft was dropped.

The prosecution described how police were called to Sainsbury's on Larne Link Road following reports of men tampering with machines. CCTV footage showed the 40-year-old ripping off the front slot of an ATM and retrieving a note.

The duo then drove to the petrol station where the older man interacted with a machine but caused no damage and took no money.

Mr Dunbar's charges were withdrawn for a caution, bringing the case to a close.
