Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins announced a £390,000 carriageway resurfacing project for Mountfield. The work covers 1.2 kilometres across Spring Road, Barony Road, Lenagh Road and Main Street. It starts on Monday 18 May 2026 and targets completion by 6 July 2026, subject to weather.

A separate £605,000 resurfacing scheme targets 1.3 kilometres of the A42 Galgorm Road in Ballymena, between Sourhill Road roundabout and Grange Road. This project also begins on 18 May 2026 and lasts 13 weeks, with substantial completion by 17 August 2026 if weather permits.

Kimmins said the investments improve the road network to connect businesses and communities. She thanked residents, businesses and commuters for their patience during the works.

In Mountfield, lane and road closures occur in stages from 8am to 6pm on weekdays. Main Street resurfacing takes place overnight to limit disruption. Signed diversions operate during closures, with local access maintained.

On Galgorm Road, traffic management runs from 9:15am to 4:30pm between Cambridge Avenue and Grange Road until 30 June 2026 for kerbing and footway works. Closures follow from 1-9 July between Sourhill Road roundabout and Dans Road, and 27 July to 17 August between Dans Road and Grange Road. Diversions use Sourhill Road, Dans Road or Old Galgorm Road.

The Department for Infrastructure plans traffic measures to reduce delays but expects some disruption. Drivers must allow extra time and follow restrictions. Updates follow any changes.
