Gloria Hunniford, born in Portadown, received the Freedom of the City of London at the Guildhall. The award recognises her contributions to entertainment and her role as an ambassador for a breast cancer charity.

The 86-year-old broadcaster began her career singing as a child performer at age six. In 1969, at the start of the Troubles, she entered broadcasting. In 1982, she hosted the first daily radio show by a woman on BBC Radio 2 for 13 years.

Her television work includes hosting chat shows and programmes on current affairs, lifestyle, and consumer rights. Credits cover shows aired on BBC and ITV networks.

Hunniford established the Caron Keating Foundation after her daughter died from breast cancer in 2004. She received an OBE in 2017 for services to cancer charities through breast screening and support.

In 2024, she was awarded the freedom of her home borough in County Armagh. She also lost her husband Stephen Way that year.

City of London Corporation policy chairman Chris Hayward welcomed Hunniford to the Guildhall ceremony.
