Northern Irish television presenter Gloria Hunniford will receive the Freedom of the City of London at Guildhall on May 14.

Hunniford, from Portadown in County Armagh, received the freedom of her home borough in Northern Ireland in 2024. She became the first woman awarded that honour for contributions to broadcasting and charity.

She described the local recognition as special to her hometown and family.

In 2017 Hunniford received an OBE for work with cancer charities focused on breast screening and support services.

She established the Caron Keating Foundation following her daughter's death from breast cancer in 2004.

Hunniford noted that the London award marks a significant day linked to her broadcasting career there since the 1980s.
