SuperCupNI 2026 Group Stage Draw Announced in Newtownabbey
The group stage draw for the 2026 Budget Energy SuperCupNI took place at Theatre at The Mill in Newtownabbey. Tommy Wright, former Northern Ireland international and current U21 manager, conducted the draw. For the first time, the boys' and girls' sections were announced at the same event.
The tournament, now in its 43rd year, runs from 26 July to 31 July 2026. It features 60 teams from Europe, North America, Asia, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland.
In the boys' premier section, Manchester United face County Antrim, Intercontinental FA, and Rangers. Southampton, last year's winners, play County Londonderry, Iconz FC, and Tigres UANL. Sunderland join County Armagh, County Fermanagh, and Kamimura Gakuen.
The boys' junior section includes Celtic against County Tyrone, County Antrim, and Blackburn Rovers. Leeds United meet County Down, County Armagh, and Helsingor FC. Tottenham Hotspur take on County Londonderry, Chicago City, and Plymouth Argyle. West Ham United face County Fermanagh, St Patrick's Athletic, and Charlton Athletic.
In the boys' minor section, Cliftonville play Maiden City, Ross County, and Al Jazira FC. Blackburn face Linfield, Newell FC, and Surf Select. Helsingør FC meet Rosario YFC, Ballymena United, and Atlas FC.
Liverpool debut in the girls' premier section against Manchester United, IL Heming, and Desert Empire. Shamrock Rovers face Aston Villa, Northern Ireland, and Chicago City.
Manchester United defend their girls' junior title against Glentoran, Linfield, and Kilmarnock. Surf Select play Chicago City, Crusaders, and Cliftonville.
Tournament Coordinator Sam Gamble stated the draw creates match-ups between major clubs and local talent. He thanked Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for hosting and noted the host councils' support. Budget Energy Managing Director Sean O'Loughlin highlighted opportunities for local players against international opposition. Antrim and Newtownabbey Mayor Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick welcomed the joint draw event. Causeway Coast and Glens Mayor Councillor Oliver McMullan expressed support for the tournament.
