Youth Football Tournament Returns to Portadown with New Shield Competition
The third annual Brownstown Super Cup youth football tournament will take place in Portadown on July 18. Organisers are introducing a new Shield competition to accompany the main event.
Kingstown Bryars, who established the tournament and sits on its organising committee, said at least eight teams of boys and girls aged 15 to 17 will compete. The Shield is designed to provide additional matches and silverware opportunities for participating sides.
Edgarstown Residents Association won the cup last year and will return to defend their title.
Bryars highlighted the event's role in promoting young people's mental health, wellbeing, and social connections through sport and teamwork.
The previous tournament attracted local MLAs and MPs, and organisers hope elected representatives will attend again. Next Move Property Sales sponsored pitch hire for this year's event.
A barbeque for players and supporters is planned. Teams can still enter by emailing brownstown.supercup@gmail.com.
