Legenderry Motor Show Raises £17,000 for Kidney Care UK in Derry
Organisers of the Legenderry Motor Show in Derry raised over £17,000 for Kidney Care UK. The event featured displays of classic cars, trucks, high-performance vehicles and trade stands. It took place in St Columb’s Park.
Richard and Joanne Gillespie organised the show. They thanked marshals, exhibitors, traders, volunteers and visitors for their contributions. They also thanked Deputy Lord Mayor Nirel McMorris for her attendance and support.
The show honoured Graham Gillespie, father of Richard Gillespie, who helped start the event. Funds came from the motor show plus a sponsored walk at Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail and a memorial run on what would have been Graham Gillespie's 80th birthday.
A cheque presentation occurred at Altnagelvin Hospital’s renal unit. Those present included Kidney Care UK Northern Ireland Ambassadors Jo-Anne Dobson and Andrew Cromwell, Deputy Mayor Nirel McMorris and volunteer coordinator Heather Vance.
Jo-Anne Dobson, a living kidney donor, stated the funds support people and families with kidney disease in Northern Ireland. She noted the money aids shared care nurses, psychological services in renal units and help for children with kidney disease.
The next Legenderry Motor Show is set for Sunday, September 27, 2026, in St Columb’s Park.
