Comedy Events in Derry and Belfast to Support Mental Health Services
Action Mental Health organises Stand Up for Someone comedy events in Derry and Belfast to raise funds for mental health services across Northern Ireland.
The Derry event takes place at the Millennium Forum on Sunday, May 17. Performers include Chris Kent, Emma Doran, Andrew Ryan, Micky Bartlett and Dave Elliott. Dave Elliott serves as compère and Action Mental Health ambassador.
Belfast events occur at the MAC on Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30, 2026. The shows feature established and emerging comedians.
Dave Elliott stated that the events raise awareness through humour about mental health struggles. He noted a recent loss of 64% of government funding for Action Mental Health, creating a shortfall for frontline services.
Elliott added that all funds raised support services for children, young people and adults in Derry and other areas. The Derry show coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week.
Jonathan Smyth, Action Mental Health head of communications and fundraising, invited people to attend for entertainment while aiding the local community.
Tickets for the events cost £27.
