Two men from the Derry area appeared in court on charges stemming from incidents on March 31. Trevor Kelly, 39, of Duncastle Road in Newbuildings, faces charges of harassment and assaulting police. Darren Dixon, 29, of Carlton Court in Derry, faces charges of resisting police and damaging a body-worn camera.

Kelly's harassment charges relate to events on March 11. Police responded to a call from the alleged victim, who reported receiving eleven phone calls from Kelly with threats. Kelly called again while police were present, and officers overheard further threats. The alleged victim was under the influence of alcohol and unable to provide a statement at the time.

Police opposed Kelly's bail due to six pending cases and 96 prior convictions. Defence barrister Stephen Chapman noted the alleged victim's condition and lack of a statement, as well as Kelly's cooperation in handing over two phones and pin codes. Chapman also addressed the assault charge from March 31. The court refused bail, with Kelly's next appearance set for April 23.

Dixon's charges arose during a police response in the Ballymagroarty area. Officers identified Dixon matching a suspect description. He smelled of alcohol, breaching his existing bail conditions, and refused a breath sample. Dixon escaped from a police vehicle due to a door fault but was recaptured after a pursuit, during which a body-worn camera sustained damage.

A police officer linked Dixon to the charges and opposed bail, citing immediate breaches after prior release and risk of reoffending. Defence counsel Sinead Rogan requested bail to a police-approved address and noted alcohol issues. The court refused bail, remanding Dixon in custody for an April 30 appearance.
