Harbourview Hotel in Carnlough Receives Four-Star Grading from Tourism NI
The Harbourview Hotel in Carnlough has received a four-star grading from Tourism Northern Ireland's Quality Grading Scheme. The award comes one year after the hotel opened following a £1.6 million redevelopment. The property was previously known as the Londonderry Arms before a change of ownership in 2024.
Tourism NI inspectors praised the 35 bedrooms for their professional finish. They also noted strong customer service, food offerings, and staff friendliness. The whiskey room drew specific commendation as a unique feature for guests and visitors.
David Roberts, Director of Strategic Development at Tourism NI, stated the hotel strengthens the Antrim Coast accommodation options with its history, location, and whiskey theme. He credited the staff's hospitality and the team's dedication after significant investment.
Paul Truscott, general manager of the Harbourview Hotel, called the grading a significant achievement for the historic building. He highlighted the focus on preserving heritage alongside innovative experiences, especially those tied to whiskey traditions, with contributions from local tradespeople and staff.
The Quality Grading Scheme assesses hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, self-catering units, hostels, and other guest accommodations on standards of service and cleanliness, with grades up to five stars.
