1st Caledon Boys' Brigade Holds Annual Display in Caledon
The 1st Caledon Company of the Boys' Brigade held its annual display on Saturday, March 14. Parents and friends attended the event in Caledon.
Reverend Bill Atkins welcomed attendees. He greeted inspecting officer Councillor Mark Robinson, honorary vice-president of the Mid-Ulster Battalion Walter Mullan, and Reverend Derek Kerr of Tynan, Middletown and Aghavilly Parish Churches.
The evening started with a hymn, Scripture reading and prayer. Performances included a drill display by the Company Section Drill Squad, a memory verse recital by the Anchor Boys, a vaulting display by the Company Section, games and figure marching by the Junior Section, and a Bible recitation by the Junior Section.
Councillor Mark Robinson attended a Boys' Brigade display for the first time. He praised the boys and leaders for their work during the session.
Awards went to Jack Hanthorn for the Willis Cup for Senior Christian Education and the Johnston Cup for Best Boy. Oliver Loney received the Cupples Trophy for Company Section Christian Education. Danny Clarke and Matthew McKenzie shared the Parents Association Cup for Best Boy in the Junior Section. Seth Maguire and Alec Warnock shared the Samuel McCarragher Cup for Best Boy in the Anchor Boy category. Toby Simpson won the Farley Best Recruit Shield. Henry Eakin received the Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council Shield for Best Personality.
Jack Brown, Daniel Marshall and Charlie Parr earned awards for full attendance. Squad 2 under Harry Coalter won the W.R. Scott Cup for Best Squad.
Company Captain Mrs. Helen Farley announced three senior boys are working toward their King's Badge. Two other senior boys are working toward their President's Badge.
The event ended with the National Anthem.
