Enniskillen Rape Case Advances to Crown Court
Alioune Sow, 20, faces charges of kidnapping a man, falsely imprisoning him to commit sexual offences, raping him, and malicious wounding that inflicted grievous bodily harm. The alleged incident took place at the Clinton Centre in Enniskillen on May 11, 2025. Sow also faces a charge of damaging a door at the centre.
Police responded to the Clinton Centre after a woman reported Sow attempting to smash her door with an axe while possessing a knife. Officers found a man with injuries to his face and arms. He reported that Sow entered his room, headbutted him, dragged him to Sow's room, and assaulted him over several hours with kicks, punches, and headbutts.
The man stated Sow held a serrated knife, threatened him, forced him to perform oral sex, and cut him on his chest, back, arm, and hip. He alleged Sow then anally raped him while recording the incident on his phone. Sow returned the man to his room with a warning not to tell anyone, then damaged another resident's door with a fire extinguisher before fleeing.
Officers recovered two knives in a stairwell and arrested Sow nearby. He refused to provide samples and gave no comment in interview. A detective noted Sow's extensive record including assaults, drugs, and damage, and a recent suspended sentence for breaking into an elderly woman's home.
District Judge Conor Heaney denied bail, citing serious charges and risks to the public and justice process. The defence had sought release for hostel accommodation. At a recent hearing, prosecutors stated the case will move to Crown Court. Sow is scheduled to appear by video-link on March 31 to set a trial date.
