Suspects Ram Police Cars in Portadown and Newry After Lisburn Robbery
Police pursued a white Audi A3 after two men robbed a newsagents in the Milltown Avenue area of Lisburn on March 7. The incident started shortly before 2:45pm when the men jumped over the counter and took cash from the till. One man held a metal object toward a staff member.
No physical injuries occurred inside the shop. Staff received support after the event. The suspects took cash and a staff handbag before fleeing in the Audi. Police believe additional people occupied the vehicle.
The Audi drove at high speed, on the wrong side of the road, and the wrong way around a roundabout. It ignored police signals to stop. Occupants threw bottles of alcohol and a steel chisel at pursuing officers.
In Portadown and Newry, the Audi struck police patrol cars. Officers received minor injuries. The vehicle then crossed into the Republic of Ireland.
Police coordinate with An Garda Síochána on the investigation. The first suspect is in his 30s, about 5ft 9in tall, last seen in a brown collared hooded parka with fur trim. The second is also in his 30s, about 5ft 7in tall, wearing a black beanie hat, black jumper, turquoise T-shirt, blue jeans, and black trainers.
