Police in Derry arrested a 38-year-old man after stopping a vehicle on Wednesday night. The stop occurred around 10.30pm on Buncrana Road after officers noticed the manner of driving.

The vehicle moved onto Racecourse Road where officers spoke to the occupants. They detected a smell of suspected cannabis from inside the car.

Officers seized suspected Class A drugs from the vehicle. They charged the man with possession of a Class A controlled drug and possession with intent to supply.

Chief Inspector Cathal Pearce stated that police in Derry City and Strabane work daily with colleagues across the service to address the illicit supply and use of drugs in communities.
