A 38-year-old man has admitted possessing class A and class B drugs after police stopped his car in Derry.

Jason Villa, of Elaghmore Park, appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the offences, which occurred on March 3.

Police observed a vehicle on the Racecourse Road and pulled it over. When Villa got out, officers noticed he was keeping one hand closed.

Villa refused to open his hand. Officers then found a quantity of class A drugs on him.

Further searches uncovered additional class A and class B drugs.

Villa told police the drugs were for his own personal use.
