Foreman from Dungiven Loses Driving Licence After Speeding on A6 Glenshane Road
Rodney O'Neill, 52, from Knock Cullen in Dungiven, received a 14-day driving disqualification at Magherafelt Magistrates Court. The court acted on Wednesday after convicting him of speeding.
O'Neill drove a van at 73 mph on the A6 Glenshane Road at 7am on August 13. The speed exceeded the limit for the vehicle by 23 mph.
He also faces a £125 fine and a £15 offender's levy.
O'Neill holds nine penalty points on his licence. District Judge Conor Heaney noted multiple recent speeding convictions.
A defence lawyer stated O'Neill works as a contract foreman and needs his licence for employment and hospital visits with his mother. The lawyer requested a short disqualification period.
