Tyrone man fined for swerving on M1 motorway
A County Tyrone man has been fined and handed penalty points after police observed his vehicle swerving on the M1 motorway.
Stuart Raymond Kelly, 46, of Rehaghy Road in Aughnacloy, pleaded guilty to the driving offence at Lisburn Magistrates Court.
The court heard that at 12.30am on December 3, 2025, police were patrolling the M1 eastbound near the Moira junction when they saw a car moving erratically between lanes. Officers signalled the driver to stop.
When asked to explain his driving, Mr Kelly was unable to provide a reason.
He was told he would receive a fixed penalty notice, but could not surrender his driving licence because it was being held by the DVLA. The agency was investigating whether health issues would allow him to continue driving.
District Judge Rosie Watters imposed a fine of £150, an offender’s levy of £15, and four penalty points on his licence.
