A Dungannon man has been banned from driving for three weeks after admitting he drove at 113mph on the M1 near Portadown.

Neil McLarnon, 44, of Mullaghmore Park, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to speeding.

Police stopped McLarnon on July 21 last year after observing his black Kia Sportage travelling at 113mph towards Dungannon.

McLarnon told officers he accepted he had been speeding.

His barrister told the court McLarnon works two part-time jobs, one as a care worker at Craigavon Area Hospital and another at Lidl in Nutts Corner, and relies on his driving licence for both roles and to visit his child.

The court heard McLarnon has driven for around 15 years with only minor infringements and currently has no penalty points.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan banned McLarnon from driving for three weeks, fined him £200 and imposed the £15 offender levy.
