Belfast City Council Promotes Repair Week 2026 for Waste Reduction and Cost Savings
Belfast City Council is promoting Repair Week 2026, scheduled from 2 to 8 March, to encourage residents to repair rather than discard items. The initiative aims to reduce waste, save money and support a circular economy through events across the city.
The programme features workshops on bike maintenance, tech repairs, furniture upholstery, clothing alterations and power tool use. These free and low-cost events are organised in partnership with local organisations, charities and businesses.
Repair Cafes operate across Belfast and Northern Ireland, alongside specialised shops for shoe, watch, clothing, furniture and upholstery repairs. Community groups and organisations can use the week to promote repair services and sustainable products.
CastleCourt Shopping Centre will highlight repair businesses located within its premises. George Gillespie, Community Network Manager at Northern Ireland Resources Network, said: 'We are absolutely delighted to support Belfast City Council’s waste reduction initiatives. It’s a pleasure to work alongside a team so committed to promoting the circular economy and making a sustainable future a growing reality for our community.'
Full event programme and booking details are available on the Belfast Repair Week event page.
