A 27-year-old man from Monaghan has been returned for trial at Derry Crown Court accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily injury to two police officers.

Ben Kierans-Flynn, of Park Road, Monaghan, in the Irish Republic, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The charges stem from an incident on Victoria Road on 20 September 2025. He faces two counts of dangerous driving on Victoria Road, two counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily injury to two officers, two counts of resisting police and two counts of assault on police.

The district judge accepted there was a case to answer. The defendant did not call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.
