At Derry Magistrates' Court on Friday, two men were returned for trial on charges of affray and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.

The charges relate to an incident on John Street in Derry on 26 September 2025.

Seamus Doherty (29), of Sackville Court, and Peter Toland (32), of John Street, both in the city, appeared at a preliminary enquiry.

The court accepted there was a case to answer, with no contrary submissions made.

Neither defendant called any witnesses or made any statement at this stage.

Both were granted continuing bail and ordered to appear at Derry Crown Court on 3 July for trial.
