Bangor suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Limavady United in the Northern Ireland Football League Premiership on Tuesday night.

Limavady striker Jamie McGonigle scored a hat-trick in the opening 23 minutes. He opened the scoring in the second minute, added a second after 10 minutes, and completed his hat-trick with a free-kick after 23 minutes.

Tiarnan Mulvenna scored a consolation goal for Bangor in the 68th minute. Limavady had Stephen Lowry sent off in the 86th minute, but Bangor could not capitalise.

Bangor manager Lee Feeney said he was shocked by his team's first-half display. He said the goals conceded were due to individual errors and that the players did not follow the game plan discussed before kick-off.

Feeney said the players improved after half-time and fought hard, but the damage had been done in the first half.

Bangor made three substitutions at half-time and were forced into another change early in the second half when goalkeeper Patrick Solis Grogan was replaced due to injury.

Bangor next face Portadown at Clandeboye Park on Saturday.
