Bangor Manager Feeney Reflects on Premiership Survival and Retiring Players
Bangor FC manager Lee Feeney expressed satisfaction with his team's performance over 38 games this season. The club secured its place in the Premiership with four games remaining. This marks back-to-back seasons in the top division for Bangor for the first time since the mid-1990s.
Feeney noted that achieving survival early allowed the players to play the final matches without pressure. He recalled celebrations after the match against Crusaders that confirmed their status. In the most recent game, Bangor competed closely with the opposition but conceded avoidable goals and missed chances.
The season saw the retirement of players Michael Halliday and Robbie Garrett after the latest match. Halliday joined Bangor in 2018 and won three promotions with the club. Garrett signed with Bangor in 2024 after playing for Linfield.
Feeney described both players as major losses due to their character and respect among teammates. He stated that managing them was an honour and that they chose to end their careers at Bangor rather than play elsewhere.
