William Stewart McGuckin, of Ballinderry Bridge Road, Coagh, appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court on Friday to face charges of common assault, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon, a brick, in a public place. The charges relate to an incident on June 22.

Prosecutors stated that at approximately 2.50pm that day, police received a 999 call from the driver of a speed camera van parked on Ballinderry Bridge Road. The driver reported that a man had caused damage to the vehicle.

District Judge Francis Rafferty ruled that the offences passed the custodial threshold and ordered a pre-sentence report. The judge advised McGuckin to engage fully with the Probation Service. The case was adjourned to August 21 for a short report.
