£450,000 Resurfacing Scheme for Mayobridge's B7 Chapel Hill Road
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a £450,000 carriageway resurfacing project for the B7 Chapel Hill Road in Mayobridge. Work will begin on 27 July 2026 and is scheduled for substantial completion by 4 September, subject to weather conditions.
The scheme involves 1.6 kilometres of road across two sections: an urban stretch from the roundabout past Chapel Car Park, and a rural section running west for one kilometre from Milltown Hill Road.
Kimmins said the investment would significantly improve road surface quality and strength, benefiting residents, businesses and commuters. She also highlighted the department's commitment to maintaining the road network across Northern Ireland.
Weekday lane closures will be in place from 27 July to 14 August between 9am and 5pm. This will be followed by a full weekday road closure from 17 August to 4 September, operating from 9am to 4.30pm. The road will reopen each evening and at weekends.
A signed diversion will route traffic via B7 Chapel Hill, B7 Bridge Road, C334 Aughnagon Road, C334 Derryleckagh Road, B8 Hilltown Road and B8 Newry Road.
The Department for Infrastructure warned that road users should expect delays and allow extra time for journeys near the works. Local access will be maintained where possible, but motorists are asked to comply with temporary traffic restrictions.
Updates on progress and any changes to the schedule will be provided through the Trafficwatch NI website.
