Liz Kimmins Announces £406,000 Resurfacing for Lagmore Avenue in West Belfast
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins announced a £406,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme for Lagmore Avenue in West Belfast. Work starts on 18 March 2026 and covers 1.25km from Stewartstown Road to the Mount Eagles Road roundabout.
The project complements an ongoing Active Travel Scheme in the area. Kimmins stated that the investment will benefit residents and road users by improving road and cycling infrastructure to connect businesses and communities.
Full road closures will occur daily from 9am to 5pm on Lagmore Avenue from 18 March to 22 March 2026 and from 30 March to 3 April 2026. Daily lane closures will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday from 23 March to 27 March 2026.
Diversions will route via Stewartstown Road, Lagmore Dale, Lagmore Glen, Lagmore View Road, Mount Eagles Mews and Mount Eagles Road. The Department arranged operations to limit disruption while allowing local access.
Road users should anticipate delays and plan extra time near the works. They must follow all temporary traffic restrictions.
Resurfacing finishes by 3 April 2026, subject to weather. The Active Travel Scheme completes by 18 May 2026.
