A community fundraiser for a local cyclist diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour has raised over £100,000, with the target now increased to £150,000.

The GoFundMe page was organised by Declan McConville to support Paul, a member of Armagh Down Cycling Club, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma in May 2026. Paul is married to Donna and has three young daughters.

He collapsed shortly after returning from the Mallorca 312, a 312-kilometre cycling challenge. Doctors discovered a mass on his brain on 1 May, and the diagnosis of glioblastoma was confirmed on 14 May.

Paul is currently receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy at Belfast City Hospital, with treatment scheduled to continue until the end of July. He has also been accepted for dendritic cell therapy under Professor Gansange in Berg, Germany, due to begin on 12 August 2026.

Dendritic cell therapy is a personalised form of immunotherapy that aims to help the body’s immune system recognise and attack cancer cells. Glioblastoma is one of the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumours in adults.

Hundreds of donations have been made, highlighting strong community support for the family. The fundraiser remains open via the GoFundMe page.
