Students at the Enniskillen campus of South West College organised a walk on Tuesday to support Care for Cancer. Year 1 BTEC Level 3 students from the Career Builder module planned the route and promoted the event. Staff and students participated during a break from campus activities.

The walk raised £390 for the charity. Care for Cancer provides counselling, complementary therapies, and practical support to cancer patients and families within a 26-mile radius of Omagh. The charity also offers transport to treatment centres in Belfast and Craigavon.

In Omagh, volunteer Ivan Gilmour retired from Care for Cancer after 30 years of service. He joined following a family member's leukaemia diagnosis and held roles as chair and vice-chair. Gilmour received a British Empire Medal in 2022 for his work.

The charity operates from Campsie in Omagh, County Tyrone.
