The Foyle Maritime Festival in Derry has attracted thousands of visitors across its four-day run, with a programme of on-water displays, live music and family activities. The event is delivered by Derry City and Strabane District Council in partnership with Foyle Port, The Loughs Agency, Tourism NI and Diageo.

On the opening night, headline act Altan performed on the main stage overlooking the River Foyle. The second and third days saw crowds undeterred by intermittent rain, according to organisers, with activities including street performances, food and craft markets, and opportunities to board visiting tall ships.

The festival is set to conclude on its final night with a performance from Rock Choir NI and a fireworks display over the Foyle at 11pm.

Alongside the entertainment, the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Grace Uí Niallais, met with Western Health and Social Care Trust staff at the festival. They were there to promote the Department of Health’s ‘This Is Our Health’ public engagement initiative, which encourages people to complete a short survey on the future of health and social care.

The Mayor said the survey takes just a couple of minutes and allows the public to have a real say in shaping the health service, also prompting thinking about everyday changes for personal wellbeing. The engagement team was stationed near the main stage throughout the event.
