Foyle Maritime Festival Returns to Derry with New Features
Derry City and Strabane District Council will host the Foyle Maritime Festival from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 29 along the quay in Derry.
Council staff report preparations to convert the riverfront into a marina with visiting ships, boats, live music, water activities, markets, food options, bars and keynote events.
New elements include a night-time lighting installation on ships for three nights and fireworks at the festival's close on Sunday night.
The event adopts the theme 'Forged On The Foyle - It's in Our DNA' to highlight the upcoming DNA Museum at Ebrington ahead of its 2027 opening.
Activities feature themed zones, a Science of Water display, Carnival of Colours with a big splash event, boat tours, water sport demonstrations, river races and taster sessions.
Queens Quay faces full road closure to support riverfront dining, merchant and maritime markets, animation and a vintage fairground.
The LegenDerry Street Food Festival returns with local artisan food and drink.
The biennial festival occurs every two years.
