A feature film shot partly in Derry has been nominated for a National Film Award. 'Hunting Party' is up for an award at the ceremony taking place on 1 July, with public voting closing on 27 June.

The thriller tells the story of a group of judges who, frustrated by criminals evading justice, manipulate court outcomes to abduct and hunt offenders on a private estate. Filming took place across Derry, Donegal and the north west, including locations on Inch Island and along the north coast.

The film's director, Danny, said he enjoys returning to Derry to film because of the positive local reception and the ease of working compared to larger cities. He noted that Derry residents are accommodating and that the city offers a fresh filming location not overused by productions.

Danny singled out local actors, describing people from Derry as naturally gifted performers with a strong storytelling ability. He highlighted the work of Derry actor Paul O'Doherty, calling him a wonderful and professional actor.

The director expressed delight at the nomination, saying it was rewarding to be recognised alongside other high-profile productions. 'Hunting Party' is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
