A 16-year-old from Buncrana, County Donegal, performed on stage with American singer Zach Bryan during a Belsonic concert in Belfast.

The teenager, identified only as Paul, had purchased golden circle tickets months in advance and brought a handmade sign requesting to play the song Nine Ball alongside Bryan.

As Bryan began the intro to the track, he noticed the sign, stopped, and instructed security to bring Paul over the barriers and onto the stage.

The crowd of approximately 45,000 people cheered as Paul took a guitar and joined Bryan for a duet.

Paul had been playing guitar for only 10 months, having taken up the instrument after a sports injury left him unable to continue his usual activities. Before this, the largest audience he had performed for was three friends.

The song Nine Ball holds personal meaning for Paul and his father, who have regularly played pool together since Paul was seven years old. The song title references the pool game.

Paul said his father was visibly emotional during the performance, shedding a tear for the first time Paul had seen.

The experience has given Paul the confidence to consider pursuing music more seriously. He stated that after performing for 45,000 people, playing in smaller venues no longer feels intimidating.
