Worldwide Marian Procession makes its way through Derry
A religious procession passed through neighbourhoods in Derry on Saturday, forming part of the Worldwide Eucharistic Marian Procession on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The event began with a World Holy Mass at St. Mary’s Chapel in Creggan at midday. After the service, participants walked into the Bogside and Brandywell districts.
Along Deanery Street the procession passed a mural commemorating Sister Clare Crockett, a Derry-born nun killed in the 2016 Ecuador earthquake. The group paused at a grotto in the Brandywell before moving on.
The devotion culminated with the Holy Rosary recited at Celtic Park stadium.
The local gathering was organised by the faith group Guardians of the Faith.
