Derry City Cemetery Prepares for Blessing of the Graves on June 7
Derry City and Strabane District Council has issued guidance for visitors ahead of the annual Blessing of the Graves at City Cemetery.
The event is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday June 7.
The council expects high numbers of visitors in the days before the service and recommends spreading visits across the day to reduce congestion.
The cemetery operates extended summer hours until 8pm.
On the day of the event, parking inside the grounds will be restricted.
Only Blue Badge holders with pre-booked spaces may use on-site parking, entering via the Lone Moor Road gate between 1pm and 2pm.
Alternative parking is available at St Mary’s Church Creggan, St Cecilia’s College and Celtic Park on a first-come first-served basis for Blue Badge holders.
The event is organised jointly by the Church and the council.
